The Alongis do not advertise, but several guidebooks acclaim their ice-cream as the best in Italy, so there is no need.
San Crispino is less flamboyant than other gelaterie: there are no crested waves of flashy Versace colours, no scattered fruits. And no cones – absolutely not.
These contain artificial additives that are anathema to San Crispino’s philosophy.
So, it’s tubs only.
The business was set up by two brothers. Giuseppe and Pasquale Alongi, and Giuseppe’s wife, Paola. They started to make ice-cream at home and soon realized that what they produced was in.
